Stop following the crowd, dont be a sheep!
The Bad parts of Firefox.Stop downloading firefox! Thats right a computer geeks says dont use forefox! as a well trained computer person I know these things. You see firefox might me standards complient, but the truth is no browser will ever be 100% standards complient, thats cos the WC3 is never happy with standards, and truth is firefox isn't completely complient as it is. Now this may only be the one or two bugs that it has, but it still exists. Now IE and other browsers might not be complient, at all. But they are far more forgiving for programmers, and newbies in HTML. Which is a good thing, isnt it? as the more people that are able to write webpages the more information that can be spread arroud the world, and easier.
IE also has another advantage over firefox, that is that it doesnt have a memory leak, well if there isnt one then its not as bad as firefox. I experimented earlier, as shown in this image. This shows that from standing cold(I.e both are not running, except IE is running as windows which causes more harm, but loads quicker), IE uses LESS memory rendering the BBC home page, than firefox uses rendering the Firefox Start page(provided by google). This is with just the one tab open, and both with the google toolbar running. Also bear in mind that google's pages are minimalistic, and the BBC's pages have a bit more content on them. That means that firefox is inefficient compared to IE.
Which Do you choose though? Well thats the question, until Mozilla fix this bug, and its a big bug, then its personal choice. Depending on what your machine is, and how much memory it uses. On a personal level I exclusively use internet explorer and will continue until firefox is faster to start from cold, uses less memory, and supports all the web pages on the internet properly, the Odeon website is a example of a site that firefox mucks up, and just refuses to load, whether that is the issue of mozilla or odeon. But firefox should at least attempt to load it.
If you use a laptop, or other small machine, I urge you to continue to use IE, as its better for portable devices. I know that "specialised"/"localised" builds exist to remove the hardware constraints for smaller devices, but off of the website downloads that stupid users download then firefox will continue to be the thorne in the developers side, even if it is easier to code for firefox, as it listens to code completely.
You will notice that this site does indeed render correctly(The way I want it) in both browsers, and Mozilla, but I've not really checked any others. but no-one really uses them.
