Damn you Council!.

Here are some problems with britains roads.

Let me just point out that I am not really qualified to complain about politics or about the roads or drivers on the roads, since I don't have a driving license. But I do observe other people and the habbits of people.

First let me start with the roads themselves. My local council seem to insist in always having at least one road in the town closed off, or having it one way, or having usless traffic lights on them. Why? is it to get value for money on behalf of the tax payer? I don't think so. is it that there isn't enough workers to do all the relevant works at once? No - there's pleanty in other counties and most of the work is done by other companies themselves. Is it to slow people down as much as possible? YES.

In all other towns, cities, even in other countries the government wants to get people doing as much work as possible, unfortunatly that can't be done if we're all sat in a traffic jam.
Britain used to be the best country in the world. We used to invent stuff and sell it on to everyone else - eg. concorde, BBC TV programs etc. now we do didly squat. What do we have better than the rest of the world?
NHS - the health service that has 12-18 month waiting lists,
Cheap police / Speed cameras - I'm not dening that they don't do their job but they cause so much agravation because they are all on By-passes / main roads NOT IN TOWN CENTRES!
Internet access - Nearly every home in the country is fitted with a fast 50Kb line whereas other countries have fast 100Mb connections.

This country has a 1980's road and motorway network that doesn't have enough capacity for today. Not only that but council's keep putting in traffic calming bumps in, to try to reduce the cars on that road. Do you know why there's that much traffic down residential roads? because WE LIVE THERE!

Also drivers get on my nerves because they seem to be oblivious to everyone else on the road, why? They refuse to indicate when they are going to pull out on by-passes and motorways, and on roundabouts. Yes the whole world loves to guess if your pulling out and if your coming off the roundabout at this or the next turning.

I say we do this:
1)Tear up all speed bumps
2)Ban bad or nervous drivers - I can't stand a woman(sometimes a man tho) coming towards me slowing down, mouthing "go on" If I was going to go, ie. if I was in a rush, I'd run out in front of you.
3)Build more motorways/main roads to get past crappy little towns
4)Put pleanty of speed cameras in the towns, and have the limit set to 25, with no cameras on main roads
5)Have a aggression limit system, if a car or most likely a van driver cuts you up, or swears at you, or blatently doesn't care that the speed limit is 30 or below have them banned from driving for a week, also fine them, that should fund the new roads being built.

Put these in place and I'll be happy.
